ÇANKAYA UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE

Architecture is the study of designing the spaces used by humans in every aspect of their lives such as dwelling, working, leisure, etc. It is the art and science of building our physical environment. Architect as a decision maker is the person who designs the spatial and technical features of a building such as the structure, construction lighting, heating, ventilation insulation systems and determines aesthetic solutions about the forms of building and its components. architecture, together with Medical Science and Law, gained the right of 'Free Circulation of Services' in the European Union. Architecture, with its above-mentioned qualities has always been a favorable occupation, as it is always in demand and rarely affected by the changes in technology. 

The undergraduate program of Çankaya University Department of Architecture was structured as the result of considering on similar programs of leading national and foreign universities' strongest aspects and reflects the combination of experience, future oriented Turkey needs, international competition features. Also the program was structured according to the requirements of MÝAK (Architectural Accrediting Board) and Bologna Process which aims to create a unified higher education area in the Europe and managing in continuous search of quality. Therefore, the graduates of the department will have significant educational and professional advantages among both their national and international peers.  

The education language is English. In our department, the theoretical knowledge is provided in the form of weekly lectures, the studio work helps students to enhance their creativity, which is considered to be the main factor in the design process and to apply construction technologies. Thus, our graduates who have competency on contemporary design and construction technologies, construction materials, value-cost financial management, will contribute to the development of the economy of Turkey and will play an important role in providing utmost security for the life of our people.

Beside their role as designers, architects are responsible for the coordination among various professional groups who are active in the construction industry and responsible from the process efficiency. The academic program is designed in such a way that the graduates of the department will be able to work and collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary working environments. They will be able to collaborate with interior architects, engineers, landscape architects and industrial designers. Thus, Çankaya University Department of Architecture offers a minor program for the students of the Department of Interior Architecture, Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering and Department of Electronic and Communication Engineering and double major program for the students of the Department of Civil Engineering. It is possible for the students of Department of Architecture to complete a double major program in the Department of Civil Engineering.

The contents and the locations of the elective courses are giving the possibility of specialization to the students before graduation. Beginning by the coming education year, Çankaya University Graduate Program in Architecture will offer specialization in design culture, construction, conservation-restoration and project management for students who want to further continue with their academic and professional studies after the graduate degree.
